Sold!

Our house is officially sold! Now that the stress of selling our house is over I can finally begin thinking about our new place. I am concentrating on pulling together a plan for the main floor. All of our existing family room furniture will be going to the basement and all of the living room furniture will be changed. I haven't loved our living room for a long time so this move is giving me the chance to start fresh.

We take possession of the new house in January and we don't need to be out of our house until April 1st so that gives us lots of time to tackle the projects that need to be done before we move in. The house is new but unfortunately it still needs a little work. We need to finish the basement, change the backsplash in the kitchen, rework the laundry room and paint a few rooms. I would be thrilled if we could get this all done before we move in to avoid living through the drywalling dust etc.

Here is the floor plan. Sorry for the crap photos, the scanner SUCKS and would NOT WORK!
Hoping to have more to show you soon.

The first thing I need to decide on is paint. I would like to repaint the living room and dining room. As you can see on the plan both of these rooms really only have three walls and are open to the hall. Ideally I would like to use my two favourite colours BM Revere Pewter in the dining room and Balboa Mist in the living room. My dilemma is what do I paint the long wall on the left in the hall way? It's about 24 feet long, has a coat closet, a built in and the pocket door to the butler's pantry along it. Right now I am leaning towards Balboa Mist because it is such a good neutral grey. I have painted up some test boards that I will try in the space once we take possession.

My initial inspiration for the living room started with this white sofa and grey pillows that I saw recently while out shopping. The sofa can be custom made to any size and has down wrapped cushions.

I like the fact that it only has one large seat cushion and the subtle use of nail head trim along the bottom.

I am also kinda liking the deep grey feature wall behind the sofa which is Farrow and Ball's Manor House Grey. This colour complicates the hall issue further. It's too dark to be used throughout the living room and hall and I am usually not a fan of the feature wall, but it did look amazing with the white sofa.

I think once the Christmas craziness is over I'll buckle down and start ordering a few of the bigger upholstered pieces we need.

The only thing I have committed to so far is this duel fuel Wolf range. If you are in the market for a new range this one is on sale until February for $2000.00 off. Offer is good in Canada, but I am not sure about the US.

So that is it so far, I'll keep you posted.
