Easter

Isn't this a cute table? So fun and easy for your Easter celebrations. It was originally from a baby shower, but I think it's perfect for a brunch or gathering where children will be invited. All you need are some fresh flowers and a few stuffed bunnies. Print out your guests names, cut out in a ribbon shape and place on top of each cupcake for place cards. You can read about it on Everyday Occasions here.

Bright Birthday Brunch

I already linked to this birthday table design on my Friday's post, but I love it so much I though I would show you a few more photos. This fun and colourful table is designed by the very talented Nashville designer Jen Sohr.
Jen is a master at mixing vintage finds with new items and artfully layering multiply patterns. The table is so cheery and bright with pops of red, pink and yellow all placed on a base of leftover kraft paper wallpaper.

I think the grocery store flowers and the ingenious use of wallpaper for a runner are my favourite parts.

Use tape to personalize paper straws to use as place cards.

Photos from here and here.

Hope everyone is having a bright and cheerful day!

Tomato Basil Pasta Salad

I had forgotten all about this recipe that was originally given to me by my friend Debby. It is perfect for this time of the year when the tomatoes are at their peak and fresh basil is available.
We had a small dinner party on Friday night and I served this pasta salad; it was delicious with grilled chicken and a green salad.

Tomato Basil Pasta Salad

4 ripe whole tomatoes
2 cups mayo
1 clove garlic
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
salt and pepper
1 cup fresh basil leaves
1 small tomato, diced
1 lb pasta

Cook pasta al dente.
In a blender combine 1st 6 ingredients. Pour all but 1 cup of dressing over warm pasta. Refrigerate. Add reserved dressing and diced tomato just before serving.

Enjoy!
