The first book I read was The Rules of Civility. I loved, loved this book. It was one of those stories that I just couldn't put down and I became so engrossed in the characters' lives that I was sad when it ended. If, like me you enjoy lots of period detail and a fascination with old New York than you will really enjoy this book. Lately I have been so enamored with 1930's New York that I decided to pulled out my high school copy of The great Gatsby and reread it. I have to say that I enjoyed The Rules of Civility more than The Great Gatsby.
Next I read What Alice Forgot. I was wandering aimlessly around the book store one day with a coffee when an employee came up to me and asked if I needed a recommendation. She said that she had just finished this book and thoroughly enjoyed it but she couldn't say much more because she didn't want to "give it away". That was enough information to peak my interest so I bought the book.
"Alice Love is twenty-nine, crazy about her husband, Nick, and pregnant with her first child. So imagine Alice's surprise when she comes to on the floor of a gym (she hates the gym!) and is whisked off to the hospital, where she discovers the honeymoon is truly over; she is actually thirty-nine, has three kids and is getting divorced." (from the back cover)
If you have a chance to read one, or both of these books I would love to know what you thought and please leave any other book suggestions you may have. (I am on a reading role and need more recommendations!)
Have a great day.
