Connecticut: Part 3

I wasn't planning on a Connecticut part 3,  but I thought you would enjoy these photos of Sarah Kaplan's house, the owner of Dovecote Home.

For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to make this photo larger. This is Sarah Kaplan's dressing room and her Birkin collection. What!? I count 14. That's some collection.

Hope you have a good Thursday.

Connecticut: Part 2

In Westport (Martha Stewarts's old street, Turkey Hill is in Westport) we found a great store called Dovecote. In a dream world I could have purchased a house full of furniture and accesories! Here's a look at all they offer.

They also have a good selection of jewellery. My big purchase was this watch to add to my oversized watch collection---only $39.00! I was being so good, I could of done some serious damage to the credit card. :)

Connecticut: Part 1

I had a great time in Connecticut visiting my friend Debby and helping her with her new home. So far she has had eight homes in two countries and she can be considered an expert at moving a family and making any house she has into a show piece in record time. This new house is a quintessential east coast colonial with five bedrooms and three fireplaces. It's situated on a quiet lane way on a small hill. I love the fact that it is full of light and has a pretty view out the front. It's hard to tell from this photo, but the shutters are dark green. In the spring the front door will be changed to a single door with side lights and the shingles will be painted a warm white with dark navy shutters. Probably Hague Blue from Farrow and Ball.

In just a few weeks time Debby has had the entire inside painted, the hardwoods floors redone, all door hardware changed and new light fixtures installed. While I was visiting we managed to purchase two huge loads of furniture and accessories. I love spending other peoples money!

One of the best finds was this lamp from Pier 1. I was surprised at how good the selection was and how well priced the lamps were. It is called the Grande Lux and is $150.00.
Some spaces require a substantial lamp, the great things about this mercury glass one is its height, nearly 34 inches. It has an acrylic base and finial.
Here's a close up. This was literally 20 seconds after we got in the house, we were so excited to get it in place we didn't take the time to style the table. Don't you love bringing home something new, it's better than Christmas for us design nuts!

In tomorrow's post I will show you a few more interesting finds from the Westport Connecticut area. Here's a sneak peak.
I love that little bench.
