Love of The Week {Bite Beauty}

I have finally, after much searching, found a lipstick that doesn't irritate my lips. For the last couple of years, every time I tried to wear lipstick, my lips would become sore and then the top layer of skin would peel off. Last winter it was at its worst; not only did I have peeling, but my lips swelled to the point that I thought I was having a serious reaction. The doctor sent me to a dermatologist and an allergist and both doctors said I was allergic to some chemical or additive in a product I was using. They tested me for 50 of the most common chemicals, all of which I showed no reaction to. The doctor said it is impossible to find out exactly what I am allergic to and the only solution was to avoid using any products on or near my lips.

I was over at Seleta's blog and read that she has the same problem, her suggestion was to try Channel. I tried the Rouge Coco Shine line and found that my lips didn't peel, but after a couple of hours were very dry.

I tried a few brands available at Whole Foods as well as many others and they all ended up hurting my lips.
I was getting tired of using only chapstick and wanted a little colour, especially in the winter when I am so pale. I recently found the Canadian company Bite Beauty which sells all natural lipstick and gloss and thought I would give them a try.

I purchased their Lush Lip Tint in Black Currant.

At first I tried just a little to see if I would react and I was pleasantly surprised that my lips were fine. It goes on smooth and provides long lasting sheer colour. That little 'B' in the center is resveratrol an antioxidant found in red wine.

The line is free of:   Parabens
                              Sulfates
                              Synthetic Fragrances
                              Synthetic Dyes
                              Petrochemicals
                              Phthalates
                              Triclosan

Bite Beauty has other products too that I will definitely be trying soon.
Available at Sephora.

Seleta has a very interesting post this week on red lipstick, read it here.

 I am off to the Toronto Interior Design Show today, come back on Monday for lots of photos of what's new and hot in the design world.

Happy Weekend!
