Colour Commitment

I really want to introduce a little more colour into my spaces but I have issues with committing to colour on a large scale. I love the look of a bright sofa or a chair upholstered in a vibrant print in other peoples homes but in my own I am a little more shy. I way over think things; I ask myself, "Will I get sick of the colour", "What if the pattern dates quickly", "Is it practical" etc. After stewing over it I usually opt for larger, more expensive pieces of furniture to be in neutral tones. I came across Jamie Meares' (from Furbish) portfolio and notice a few rooms where she successfully introduced colour through accessories while keeping the base furniture neutral.

White walls, grey headboard, grey carpet and solid linen curtains make a good base for layering on colour.

One large colourful piece of art adds interest.

Adding a Persian carpet to an all white kitchen (or any room for that matter) adds a punch of colour.

Neutral walls and sectional sofa: Pops of colour in the pillows, throw and purple carpet.

On a side note-What do you think of the little white table with the animal legs?? Versions of this table are all over the net. I know 'hate' is a strong word, but I can't help it.... I hate that table. It's something about the legs that freaks me out!

Hope you're having a great day-I am off to the gym to work off the chips, pie, brownies and licorice I've devoured while sitting on my butt watching the Olympics.
Oh, and by the way, even though I know nothing about soccer I think the Canadian Women's team is awesome! Do you think the officiating was questionable?

Go Canada!
